Meeting date:

Prospect Forestation Board Virtual Meeting Minutes
May 10, 2022, 2:00 pm via Webex

Present:   Mayor Evans, Linda Knox, Sylvia Quaye, Herb Schulhafer, Ron Cundiff, John Carter

The minutes from April 12th were approved.

The Mayor said that a letter had been sent to the #30 Breakers owner concerning the violation and notice that the tree would be removed at the owner’s expense.  Greenscapes is scheduled to remove the tree later in the week.

He said that work on Little Hunting Creek Park was beginning and that the playground equipment had been ordered so the expense will be in this year’s budget. The Mayor then noted that the Council had not passed a new budget and that the current budget will go back into effect in July.  The expense for the Officer Timmons memorial tree relocation will be part of the Little Hunting Creek Park development funds.

Herb added that there will be a community work day at LHC on July 23 and encouraged everyone to participate.

There was no Consultant’s report, but we were notified that the spring plantings have been completed, including the relocation of the memorial tree.  An article on planting appeared in the recent newsletter.

In remediation, there are several trees to be reviewed.  However, with Andrea and Lee being absent, the group felt more information was needed to make decisions concerning the trees and any action will be postponed until the June meeting.

The 2022 Tree Plan is complete and ready for review at the upcoming City Council meeting.

Ideas for tree-related articles in the City newsletter or eBlasts were discussed, including Tree City benefits, volcano mulching, and common pest problems.

The next meeting will be on June 14th at 2 p.m. via webex.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:23 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Knox
