Prospect Forestation Board Meeting Minutes
March 7, 2023, 4:00 pm

Present:  Lee Tucci, Connie Kuhn, Herb Schulhafer, Mayor Farnsley, Ron Cundiff, John Evans, Don Gibson, Chris Gorman

Lee said the meeting was focused on 2 key items requiring immediate review.

Greenscapes has submitted a revised plan for Little Hunting Creek Park, dated March 3, that has been made available to all for review. Trees included in the plan include: 4 Redbuds, 3 Dogwoods, and 2 Tulip Poplars.  All trees will be 2-inch caliper.  Andrea Hanlon has reviewed this latest plan and supports it.  Herb made a motion, seconded by Connie that the Greenscapes trees as described by Lee be approved.  Approval was unanimous.

Lee also mentioned that the Paul Davis memorial tree, an Oak, will be planted in Little Hunting Creek Park near Fox Harbor Road.  The planting placement will be dependent on the location of the future walkway planned near Fox Harbor Road.  He confirmed that the cost is being covered by a $455 donation made by members of the Fox Harbor HOA.

The second topic is the work being done on the Trees and Forestation Ordinances.

Preliminary reviews by Chris Gorman have been positive.  Don Gibson suggested further clarification was needed on the timing of steps in 97.13.  Lee has distributed rewording, which has been well received.  We are still hoping to add copy concerning utility company guidelines when working on public trees.

Linda joined the meeting later in the meeting by phone following connection issues, but her comments could not be heard.  She agreed with the unanimous vote on Little Hunting Creek Park and will incorporate the latest Ordinance change recommendations with a copy to go out before the next meeting.

Lee’s final comment was that the canopy trees and the memorial tree are on order.

The regular meeting will be next Tuesday, March 14, via WebEx at 2 pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:12 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Knox
