Mayor's Welcome

Mayor Farnsley
Mayor Farnsley
Welcome to the City of Prospect, a great place to live and work!

Prospect, Kentucky, is located in northeastern Jefferson County 15 minutes from downtown Louisville. Prospect and downtown are connected by River Road which offers beautiful views of the Ohio River. Prospect includes a variety of neighborhoods, several with community clubhouses, swimming pools, and tennis courts. The Hunting Creek Country Club has a top-notch eighteen-hole golf course, pool, tennis, pickle ball, and dining options. We also have a thriving business district that includes two shopping centers, grocery stores, doctors’ and dentists’ offices, lawyers, banking, pharmacies, hardware, jewelry, restaurants, and other businesses. The Prospect Area Chamber of Commerce supports local businesses, and the Prospect-Goshen Rotary meets at the Country Club for breakfast twice each month.

Prospect is one of Kentucky’s three safest cities. We have a superb ten-member police department. We are governed by a Mayor and a six-member Council. Our elections are non-partisan, and our government is transparent and responsive to our residents. We have a balanced budget, and we pave our roads and clear them of snow and ice. Our six-member City Council, our Mayor, and our City Hall Staff are friendly, welcoming, and accessible.

Our parks are extensive, popular, and well cared for. Harrods Creek Park, Little Hunting Creek Park, and Putney Pond have hiking trails, beautiful views, and abundant wildlife. We are a Tree City, and our Forestation Board is committed to maintaining and improving the beauty of our neighborhoods and parks. The City also maintains its landscaping and has the services of an arborist and horticulturist. We also have a popular library located in our City Hall. Volunteers staff the library which includes a wide array of books and books on tape for every taste.

I invite you to visit us — travel our streets to get a feel for our neighborhoods, and visit our parks, our library at City Hall, and our shopping centers and friendly merchants. Please stop by City Hall, and I would be pleased to meet you.

Sincerely,

Mayor Doug Farnsley
