Some of you may be aware that LDG’s proposed massive apartment development, often known as ”Prospect Cove,” located on Timber Ridge Drive and adjacent to the Kroger gas station, is back.

In 2017, essentially the same proposal was unanimously recommended for approval by the Metro Planning Commission, only to be rejected by the Metro City Council. The Metro Council’s vote was 14 to 11 – the slimmest possible margin.

By law, LDG is allowed to try again, and it is. The key hearing is the Planning Commission hearing, because the facts and testimony at that hearing, and ONLY those facts, will be the facts considered by the Metro Council when it makes its decision, and will also be the facts if the matter goes to court, which is likely.  THE PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING IS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 18th, beginning at 6:30, at Kentucky Country Day School, on Springdale Drive, across from the Paddock shops.

In 2017, a very large number of us came to the hearing (about 400, I believe), and many chose to speak. I am hopeful that everyone who cares about this issue will come to this critical hearing.

In 2017, the proposed apartment building was 501 feet long. This time it is to be 496 feet long. Then, it was four stories and 45 feet high. Now it is to be 3 stories, but still 45 feet high. Then it was to have 198 apartments; now it is to have 175. Then it was presented as “senior housing.” This time it is not. In both cases it is to be located in close proximity to the Kroger gas station.
